Sarah O’Hana has been a jeweller since she graduated in 1982 from Loughborough College of Art and Design. After running her own jewellery shop in central Manchester and years of teaching design, she received her Ph.D. in laser processing for contemporary jewellery from The University of Manchester's School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering. This innovative project introduced new avenues in her practice that led to several publications focused on the benefits of cross-disciplinary research.

As course director of the BA (Hons) Jewellery and Object programme at the University of Lincoln, she created the Maker Lab, a studio space for imaginative practice that welcomed other subject areas for the cross-pollination of ideas and inspiration. After also lecturing at Manchester Metropolitan University and the School of Jewellery in Birmingham, Sarah is now based at her Manchester studio where she continues to create new work for sale, exhibitions and individual commissions.
